What are the benefits of driving to florida from massachusetts?
Q. What are the benefits of driving to florida from massachusetts as opposed to maybe flying, ect?

A. Well... If you fly, you'll totally avoid the South Eastern united states that you'll inevitably have to drive through to get to Florida. Plus, you'll get there faster. There are many benefits to making the road trip. First, you get to experience Massachusetts in all it's glory as you head south. Then you get to drive through the Carolina's. Some of it is tremendously beautiful country. You'll see things that no Yankee should ever see. You get the experience of taking a road trip - never bad - and you may end up feeling like you can take longer road trips to see other parts of the country. The best part of driving this particular part of the country is that in your interaction with folks in the southern parts of the country it will become… [cont.]

What makes me a Massachusetts resident for tax purposes?
Q. I have not resided in Massachusetts since Sep 2002. I have not lived in the US since Jul 2004. I have lived overseas. My home of record has remained Massachusetts, but I don't know if I have been shortchanging myself on tax returns. Should I be claiming non-resident or is there something else I can do? I am active duty military.
Asked by stupid people make me laugh!!! - Sun Jan 25 15:00:54 2009 - United States - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Since you are active duty military, your domicile does not change when you are posted out-of-state. You are a MA resident and since you are overseas you can NOT change it. You can only change your legal domicile to a state that you actually reside it. Since you are not currently residing in any US State, you cannot change your domicile. Warning: MA is one of those states that will pursue you for tax evasion if you change your domicile to avoid paying MA taxes. If you change your domicile to another state and then return to MA on your ETS, MA will presume that your only reason for the change in domicile was to evade payment of MA income taxes. There is no SOL on tax evasion so they can go back over a full 20 year or longer military career… [cont.]

Where in western Massachusetts would I be able to have a wedding ceremony with a bonfire allowed?
Q. I'm going to having a commitment ceremony in May of 2010. I live in Western Massachusetts, and am wondering if anyone knows where in Western Mass they would allow a bonfire at dusk, and a ceremony to be held?
Asked by - Thu Aug 6 14:30:25 2009 - Entertaining - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Head to the Cape, and do it on Sandy Neck beach! Beautiful backdrop, and totally bonfire friendly!! You can even drive on the beach there, so transporting decorations over sand won't be an issue! Have it be casual, no shoes required! Also, have you tried local parks, most in Mass have an area where you can have a fire. Good Luck!

A. Hey. I'm from Massachusetts but I live in Georgia now. Georgia just gets lumped in with south. Or people think of Atlanta... which, they don't realize it here, but people pretty much only associate the city with rappers and Gone with the Wind. As for Massachusetts - it's known for being extremely liberal, blue state, borderline socialist, gay marriage, anti-gun, high taxes, crazy Red Sox fans (rabid aggressive fans, in general for all the sports), Irish Catholic, bad accents, aggressive drivers, tons of colleges, and for the Kennedy family.

Where was the 54th Massachusetts located during the Civil War?
Q. The 54th Massachusetts was the first black regiment that is the most famous. I am writing a book that involves them and would like information that is as accurate as I can make it. What state was the base or whatever of the 54th Massachusetts located? And if possible - what battles did they fight in?
Asked by - Thu Nov 18 18:10:29 2010 - History - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Didn't you ever watch the movie Glory? It's all about them, one of my favorite regiments. They originated at Camp Meigs in Readville southwest of Boston. Colonel Robert Gould Shaw led the regiment to SC, Darien, and their well-known attack on Fort Wagner which led to the death of Col. Shaw. There is much much more that they went through and were involved in, too much to go into here.

In Massachusetts, what is the best Medicare Advantage plan for diabetics who use insulin?
Q. I am disabled, 59 years old and just became eligible for Medicare. I use two kinds of insulin and it is expensive stuff, about $300 a month. What Medicare Advantage plan in Massachusetts pays the most for tier 2 prescription drugs?
Asked by - Tue Aug 31 20:51:33 2010 - Diabetes - 1 Answers - Comments

A. You have to look in the book Medicare and You 2010 to see what plans are available to choose from in your region. The Part D benefit is the same for every health plan under Advantage. It is just what Medicare will reimburse. You wont know until you get a prescription filled. You could call these insurance plan and ask about that particular medication.

What to see on a road trip from Massachusetts to Florida?
Q. My best friend and I are leaving on a road trip from our hometown in Massachusetts to her sister's place in Jupiter, Florida. What do you recommend we see/do on the way? We're planning on stopping in Washington DC and at that place called South Of The Border in South Carolina. Any other tips or suggestions?
Asked by - Sun Dec 12 19:52:57 2010 - Other - United States - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Not much to see on 95 as you travel southbound. DC is first and worth several days. South Of The Border is nothing like it used to be and kinda' dumpy now, but still worthy of a souvenir. Charleston SC is 2 hours out of the way and if you're not a history freak...absolutely not worth it. Savannah is just a complete downer. The next thing to see along the route is probably the best thing on the whole trip. The big blue sign that says... Welcome To Florida.

Where can I buy wholesale lobster in the Massachusetts area?
Q. I've been enlisted by my sister as her unofficial wedding planner, so lately I've been contemplating things like seating arrangements, weather contingency plans, and yes, food. It's going to be a waterside wedding, so I thought lobster might be fitting for the dinner menu. Aside from the obvious clubs (Sam's, BJs, Costco, etc) where can I buy lobsters wholesale? Where do restaurants get their seafood? I'm looking for distributers in the Massachusetts/Rhode Island/Connecticut area.

A. On volume you can probably work a deal w/ a retailer. Without a business you wont be able to get a true wholesaler to sell to you.You might be able to work an arrangement off the docks,go down and talk to a captain when his boat is on the dock and see what you can arrange. There is a guy in the Berkshires who comes out daily who might be able to help you as well. It's called The Other Brother Daryl's seafood company. The guys name is Darryl Sawin.
