Can i travel with my expired Philippine passport to Philippines and back to Norway?
Q. Hi, I'm living right now in Norway. My mom already ordered the tickets to Philippines when I recognized that my passport had expired. Sad thing about it is the tickets are non-refundable ones. I'm already applying for my Norwegian passport and i would get it next year and I also have the staying permit in Norway. Any body have any idea what I should do to travel? and if i can travel with an expired passport, what are the consequences that would happen? am I gonna be not allowed to enter Norway the time i get back here? thanks :D

A. A big NO. Renewal of passport/epassport costs about 474 NOK and can take up to 10 weeks. Talk to the people in the Embassy to see if they can extend the validity of your passport so you can go to the Philippines. (do the renewal there if you want)

New US Citizen with US passport, has Philippine passport expiring on May 2009 ?
Q. My question is: Do I still have to renew my Philippine passport that is expiring this year? I have heard of people having dual passports. What are the pros and cons of having 2 passports? What are the disadvantage if I don't renew my philippine passport? Please help!
Asked by Jhing - Tue Feb 3 05:12:37 2009 - Embassies & Consulates - 3 Answers - Comments
A. The Philippines and the United States of America both allow "dual citizenship" and many filipinos who are United States citizens still maintain their Philippine passport. Off hand it would seem that travel would be easier in the Philippines and southeast Asia with a Philippine passport than an American. Also with the threats of terrorism I personally would feel safer traveling to areas like Mindanao on a Philippine passport especially if I was traveling to the western part of the island. the same argument could be made for Indonesia or any other predominately Muslim country. What ever you decide congratulations on your United States citizenship.

How can I travel outside North America with green card and expired Philippine passport?
Q. I have been living here in California for 7 years and I have not yet applied for citizenship. I only have a green card that won't expire until May 2011 and I have an expired Philippine passport (exp. in 2005)... basically, I would like to visit either London or Rome next year (maybe late March to early April...)...anyone know how I can travel those cities? Do I need to apply for a temporary visa? and what should I need to fly back to SFO (SF, California)...??? ...how much is it to get a visa and how long do they take to get processed and get handed to a person like me? Please help!...

A. You cannot leave the US without a valid passport. To renew it you have to apply to the Filipino Embassy in the US. On top of that yes you will need a tourist visa. For that you'll have to apply to the Italian and British Embassies but you need a valid passport to get one

Q. and my sponsor cancelled my visa a day ago so i have only 30 days to stay here in dubai, i just want to go home but im so much worried because my passport was expired thingking that i wast able to go back home and i heard that renewing philippine pasport takes a 6 weeks.what should i do then?

A. Contact the Philippine Embassy immediately. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your travel documentation is always valid and up to date, but they are the only agency that can renew your passport. You can still be deported without a passport, but your stay will be very uncomfortable until the arrangements are made if you don't do something about it quickly.

Travel to Canada with US green card but expired Philippine passport?
Q. I am a US green card holder and like to travel to Canada but my Philippine passport is expired, can I still travel ?
Asked by mirachel t - Wed Jul 9 20:02:23 2008 - Immigration - 2 Answers - Comments
A. You currently do NOT need a passport to travel between the US/Canada if you are travelling by land. If you are flying then YES, you do need a passport. Currently, travel via a highway accross the border you are requried to produce a goverment issued photo ID and proof of citizenship (ie, birth certificate, or citizenship card) Your valid US greencard would be suffice to travel to Canada. Your expired passport can be used as your proof of citizenship.

Q. I've heard that green Philippine passport are still valid till the expiration date, so I have the impression that I can still travel to the Philippines with a passport which has still 4 months before it expires, but my question is will I be able to travel back to Dubai (after a month vacation) with the same passport (only 3 months left before it expires) with valid Dubai residence visa?

A. Yes you can and yes you will! The requirement to hold a passport which is valid for at least six months beyond the proposed stay in the Philippines only applies to foreign visitors, not to passport holders of the Philippines. Residents of the United Arab Emirates can arrive in the country with a passport valid on arrival. You should start the passport renewal process as soon as you return to the UAE. It must be done in person since your fingerprints and a digital photo must be taken. It will take at least 4-6 weeks. Source(s): ..

am a filipino citizen transiting via US to Philippines with an expired philippine passport?
Q. my passport will expire on December 10, 2010, but am going home to the Philippines on December 22, 2010, transiting only via the US, and plan to renew my passport when i get home, will this be ok?

A. As general rule of the airlines & immigration, you cannot fly within 6 months prior expiration of your passport. i recommend that you renew first your passport at the philippine embassy where you are right now. Immigration might not allow you. and if you will not stay longer in the philippines, you should renew it there because the passport processing here in the philippines will take more than a month due to the new system.

I'm a US Permanent Resident but my Philippine passport expires in a month.?
Q. I am currently in the Philippines and will be leaving for the US in about a week with my daughter who is a US Citizen. My Philippine passport will expire in a month. Will i have problems leaving the Phippines? Will I still be allowed to enter the US with just my Green card and "almost" expired Philippine passport?
Asked by Peach K - Thu Sep 3 02:43:59 2009 - Immigration - 3 Answers - Comments
A. You shouldn't have any problem in coming back since your are a returning Permanent Resident. They are mostly strict with those who are going outside the US when it comes to the expiration date of passport. If there are no changes in your passport information you may probably inquire at the DFA about renewing your passport. You can apply for an expidite passport (7days).However, if you haven't reported your marriage to a Philippine Consulate here in the US and you are still using your passport in your maiden name, you may not be able to renew your passport in time for your trip back to the US.It takes a longer process since they will still have to verify such marriage.

Q. Here's my situation : I already bought a plane ticket to the Philippines from China Airlines last week, even though my Philippine passport is already expired thinking the passport renewal wouldn't take so long , So today (March 17th) i went to Philippine Consulate in LA, renewed my passport, and was told that the process usually takes up to 6 weeks. doh! My scheduled flight is April 15th to May 11th, and i already requested that date from my employer, and when i called China Air that if delay or ask for refund its gonna cost me $100. I really want to visit my relatives in the Philippines So what are my options here ? Please share your thoughts and experience. im lost... Thanks in advance

A. Sorry, there is no choice. You have to go to one of the Philippine consulates in the US because they don't take applications or renewals by mail. I think they used to, but not anymore. The only reason you would need a passport is if you're planning to leave the US. If you're not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, then you don't really have a need for a passport. If you're going south to Mexico, your green card should be enough to get you back into the US, but I'm not sure.

If you should have problems to get it renewed just tell the DFA people that you plan to apply for a multiple entry visa to Canada and the Canadian Embassy requires you to hold a passport that covers the entire visa validation (5 years). ..
