How does society in general look at a younger woman marrying an older man?
Q. I don't mean the dramatic young hot girl marrying an old wrinkly rich man, just asking in general how it's viewed. Like, over a 10 year age difference, but not much over 20 years different. Is it more rare? Thanks.

A. My husband is 21 years older than myself. You need to have a good attitude and be ready for some teasing. Office jokes about my "older man" and they think he is rich. I just know he is very good to me. Your true friends will not be harsh, but those who are not will make jokes.

Can a foreigner get Philippine citizenship by marrying a filipino?
Q. I've been having a hard time finding information on this. I am an American and next year I will be marrying my fiancee, who is Filipino. We were planning on me living in the Philippines with him. Would me marrying him, give me Philippine citizenship, or do I still need to get some kind of visa?
Asked by Sarah Mcgraw - Mon May 9 19:20:09 2011 - Immigration - 3 Answers - Comments

A. I am thinking you question isn't as deep as people are answering below, because you might not want to immediately become a Citizen. No you will not automatically become a Filipino citizen. The only benefit to being a citizen is that you can own land that you pay for, otherwise it will be in your husbands name with you as his spouse. Otherwise, this is such an open country that you will feel like a citizen just being in his hometown with his family. Philippines is a beautiful place. You will need to be a citizen if you are planning to be President here !! When you are married to a Filipino, you ( and your children ) automatically get a 1 year Balikbayan visa at the airport. It is NOT multiple entry, and you can only get it when travelling… [cont.]

A. You discover after awhile that despite what Muslims claim, there is a clear double standard in Islam. Theoretically, everyone is equal but Muslims claim to be more equal than non-Muslims.

Q. What is the probability of a hot celebrity marrying one of his typical fans? What does anyone got to say to that?

A. If i had to guess I'd say it's not likely but, you never know. Maybe if a celebrity actually married someone normal (not another celebrity) maybe the marriage would last. Celebrity marriages rarely ever seem to last.

How does Brother marrying sister affect your marriage?
Q. Or Farmer marrying horse? Or Father marrying daughter or son? Where exactly can we draw the line between right and wrong when it comes to marriage? By why add the relationship stipulation to marriage? Who are we to judge them? Are the offspring to gay marriages (adopteive or artificial) immune to mental issues?
Asked by Bob G - Mon Nov 3 12:59:08 2008 - Politics - 6 Answers - Comments

A. affect MY marriage? it doesn't... in the case of zoophilia, it's animal cruelty because the sex is unconsensual and in the case of incest the offspring are often born with mental retardation and physical disabilities so on a large scale it would affect the society as a whole.

A. Eric Clapton met his current wife, Melia Mc Enery, when she asked him for an autograph. Phil Collins met his now ex-wife, Orianne Cevey, when she was hired to be his interpreter. Of course, it wasn't your everyday on-the-street encounter, and being hot was a plus.

What is worse marrying the wrong person or divorcing the right person?
Q. And you only realized that you were with the wrong person after marrying them. And you only realized that you were married to the right person only after you have divorced them and they have left your life.
Asked by Prizzy - Sat Nov 20 14:17:23 2010 - Polls & Surveys - 13 Answers - Comments

A. Why are you not on my contact list? Divorcing the right person is worse, because you know how they say "you don't know what you have until it's gone?" It's very true. You can marry the wrong person, but you can always divorce them. It'll be harder to get back with the right person after a divorce.

What is the saying about not marrying a beauty, but someone you can talk to?
Q. I remember reading this a few times, that it's tempting to marry for looks, but that what's more important is marrying someone you can talk to, because that's going to be important long after looks and sex become irrelevant, or something like that. I'm searching for the original phrase and its source, so as to quote it accurately. Thanks!

A. Out of 23 rites of the Church, only the Roman or Latin rite requires celibacy, and in the Roman rite, there are some priests who are married, such as Protestant or Anglican converted ministers. Celibacy is a discipline, not a doctrine, and a priest cannot break the solemn vows he freely took. Matt. 19:11-12 - Jesus says celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear it. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church. Because celibacy is a gift from God, those who criticize the Church's practice of celibacy are criticizing God and this wonderful gift He bestows on His chosen ones. Matt. 19:29 - Jesus says that whoever gives up children for the sake of His name will receive a hundred times more… [cont.]

A. The idea is to select someone with a high degree of compatibility who you also respect and enjoy. 1) someone who shares my views on money. He must be fiscally responsible. 2) someone who agrees with me that we do not have children 3) someone with compatible views with things like religion 4) someone who shares interests and goals. 5) someone who likes sex and is compatible with me in this regard 6) Must be confident, self-reliant and not addicted to anything 7) Must be able to open pickle jars

How many people end up marrying their high school sweethearts?
Q. Just wondering what the percentage is of people marrying their high school sweethearts or if there is anyone with a success story. Please share:). I find it amazing when people marry someone they've known or been in love with since high school.
Asked by JulieBabyy<3 - Wed Dec 31 01:27:24 2008 - Marriage & Divorce - 12 Answers - Comments

A. A better question is... how many people STAYED married to their high school sweethearts... especially past the 20 year mark. It seems a lot of young people insist on marrying when they feel they're 'in love'. Then after kids, homes, retirement accounts, etc., they end up feeling like they've grown apart. At least one of them. Out of all the couples I know, over say 45, only 2 are still with people they dated since high school. Now... ask me how many of that 2 seem happy in their marriages. The exception is elderly couples. aka. people who married BEFORE getting a divorce was fashionable.

A. I am an American who is married to a Tunisian. We have three children and I am currently pregnant with our fourth, and I have been living in Tunisia 7+ years. My husband and I are very fortunate because we have a good marriage and a happy life together. There are of course people who have problems. Any time there is a relationship between people of different cultures/societies/backgrounds/religions/languages it means that there will need to be more work on the relationship. This is due to overcoming the differences. You have to truly communicate with one another and understand not only what the other is saying, but what they mean (a LOT can get misunderstood - especially in the early years). Family is very important here in Tunisia.… [cont.]
